twincityhacker: hands in an overcoat's pockets (The Brave and The Bold)
Last week's The Brave and The Bold was so much win I can't believe it exists. Though it was very much a Halloween type of an episode.

Why was it so much win? )

On my recent brain breaks, I've been tagging posts at [livejournal.com profile] scans_daily. Sometimes it's just basic information, like which characters are in the panels, but the majority of the time it's tagging the "scary bat god" posts.

What I'm classifying as "scary bat god" is posts that deal with Batman as being part Bruce and part psychological/spiritual aspect that's a part of Bruce or something Other. I haven't gotten very far, but it's things like Ahtman in "Trinity" and the Batman as really fucking scary imaginary friend of Bruce's in #24 "Gotham Knights."

It's interesting. And it even has a tiny bit of linguistics, because of the names of Athman, Kellel, and Dianna in "Trinty." Which make perfect sense phonologically.

Example: Batman -> Athman

b -> p -> [bilabial fricative (which is similar to f, but not quite) -> h -> [glottal stop] ( or null )
a -> schwa
t -> [aspirated t] because it's the stressed phoneme in the stressed syllable ( like in "attack" )

Though the wonders of cable, I've managed to watch four different versions of Batman in a five hour period. No recorder boxes, no DVDs, just flipping though channels got me "Batman: Brave and the Bold" "Batman" the live action television show, "Batman" 1989 movie, and "The Batman."

So I went to Borders and ended up buying four volumes of Ouran High School Host Club, as it was a four for three deal going on for Viz magna. I ended up with four through seven... since they didn't have one I decied to get the volumes that didn't get turned into the anime, and the one with Alice in Wonderland parady... which just left number seven, so I got that instead of three. It probably should hav been the other way around as I'm more likely to see another copy of seven than three, but that's what I did.

I also read "Batman: The Long Halloween" in the shop. Uh, was anyone else completely thrown by the end? 'Cause the last three pages was very OMFG for me. I knew just about everything else that happened in the book, so that's probably what ade it a little more of a shock.

AND I went out to eat with some people after the floor meeting. I'm Vice-Governer for my floor, it wasn't a super hard election because I was the only one who went for it. = )
