My Arabic professor sent out syllibi with this week's assignments on it.

It's in Arabic. And English. I can't read it.

The Arabic and English are intermingled, so everything is written in the wrong direction. The Arabic is going left to right and the English right to left and it's a huge, gigantic mess. And, of course, we know almost none of the vocabulary that he's using.

Oddly enough, sketches about giant chickens rampaging around a town in Jordan crushing houses does not cross cultural boundaries.

And by "cultural boundaries" I mean "fangirls" and "mundanes." The professor from Jordon totally thought it was funny. Or at least laughed.

Still really don't want to do Arabic work. Oh, wait, I can't do it - I don't have the right disk.

Though I did have my first test today in Arabic. It went well, until I hit the part with the dialogue, then I was fucked. Then the professor read the words out loud because he realized that we didn't actually know the characters that made up the words yet, and it was a little better. And then he realized that we learned the colloquial forms instead of the formal forms, and then it got a little better!

So instead of "entirely fucked" it turned out to be "oh my god why" which is a pretty big step up!

It's the first day and I already feel like I'm behind in Arabic.
