Astronomy Fandom Represent!
Sep. 14th, 2006 08:32 pm2003 UB 313, also known as Xena, now has an offical name: Eris. The moon is now named Dysnomia, after the Godesses' daughter. Now, why did the discovers name their founding after a goddess of Chaos? Beause Eris sowed strife between the gods and goddesses with her golden apples the same way the dwarf planet's finding lead to strife in the astronomical community. Yeah, even though I was rooting for Prospina, Eris is a pretty good fit.
Other than that, not much happened today. I went to the job fair, and I found the best job ever: designing simulation environments. More specificaly, ones that relate to current poltical/economic/social acivity. Though, I was not qualified for anything there, it was just intresting to go and see the jobs there. Though, I have to learn both java and flash and actionscript soon.
Uhm. Went to fencing, and... I sucked. But I got to slash in real life, so that's one thing in a sabers favor. I think I like foil a little beter though. For one thing, it's lighter. = )
And I bought books. Too many books, but they were in a fire sale, and I can't resist a cheep book. So there's a book on homosexual love in the nineteenth century, breaking Japanese codes in WWII, a book about the history of the development of nuclear powered space ship, what ifs of American history, and a book about the intersection between language and politcs and culture. Or in otherwords, books about my non-fanish fandoms. I almost got a biography of Beetovan, but evidently I did not. Just as well, as $30 blown on books today was quite enough.
