Watched Battlestar Galatica for the very first time today, as NUMB3RS is oppiste and was a re-run.

Plus, Dad went to sleep, so I was able to watch it. He refuses to watch it because he couldn't watch the orginal because of the cheese.

While I can't say wheter I like it or not myself, I can say that the person or persons responsble for decieding how to shoot the thing needs to be beaten, as the jittery camera movements made the stupid show difficult to watch.

And does anyone else think that the show is a cross between a soap opera and a cheesey sci-fi movie? Actualy, it's more telenoevla than soap, but that's splitting hairs.

And opening night went well. After all the technitions threatened to walk out, that is.

Battlestar Galactica rocks. In huge, sweeping ways. They've had a couple of slightly off episodes this season, but overall it's possibly the best show currently on modern television.

If you didn't see it from the beginning... you won't get it. You won't even begin to get it. It's a show that actually requires some level of consistant viewership; it's written in layers upon layers upon layers. But if you watch it from the beginning, you see just how amazing it really is.

As to the camera angles and shots... I like it. ::shrugs:: I love the Viper piloting shots, and the whole hand-held feel. The characterizations are a thrill, and *deep*, unlike most of the crap that's out there nowadays. Well, let's be frank. Almost all of the stuff out nowadays is crap.

Galactica, however, is not. It's an adult, tough-as-nails sci-fi that's real heart is based in the people and not the technobabble.

The only complaint I really have about the show is the camera shots.

The soap opera/teleanoevla thing is just to say that Battlestar Galatica reminds me of them in the way that the plot pretty complex and you have no idea what's going on unles you see a few episodes. Plus the "in this episode, absolutely nothing is resolved" vibe.

The cheesey sci-fi angle is that, while the plot seems like it should have been a MST3K episode (OMG! Robots have blown up our habitat and we must find some other place to live!) it's well-written show to make it a feature film.
