Another Crackpot Theory
Jun. 12th, 2004 11:00 pmAnd my sister and I just got back from seeing the new version of the Stepford Wives. The film was pretty funny, and I liked it better than the original, or the original as my sister desicribed to me at least.
But there was one thing that though me for a loop. Well, besides seeing Nuevea in the opening credits. One of the men pays off... I've just saw the movie les than ten minutes ago and I can't remember the name... Walter! And he calls his wife in. He procedes to use her as a moving atm machine. The movie goes on for awhile longer but this is the part I want to talk about. Not that it was creepy, it was, nor that it was funny, which it was also. No, I want to say that I've seen that exact same idea in fanfiction.
And funny enough, it's not the first time it's happened. Completely diffrent fandoms though.
I first saw the human-as-a-atm in a MSTK msting. I want to say somthing by Megane 6.7, but I can't quite remember which one.
But the other one is a bit older. Its in the latest James Bond movie, Die Another Day. In the movie is this car that can turn invisable, which is about common as dirt. But the particular way it turned invisable is extremely, or excatly in my opionion, as the DeLorenan is hidden in a Back to the Future series by Mary Jean Holmes. And of course, I can't quite remember which story that's in either.
And what am I trying to say/prove here? The idea that I'm going with is that people come up with extremely similar ideas. Like writing was invented a few times.
But at the same time, it's really kind of creepy. Creepy as in your new neighbor sounds exactly like your cousin; it always happens to your friend's friend, but you never expect it to happen to you.
