first day blues

twincityhackerThe class I started today was "Feminism, Science, and Society."

msp_hacker happy.. It's about gender and science, dealing with the language and rhetoric.
It's also primarily filled with men, though I didn't want to do a count as the final class number has not settled out yet. Which also makes me cranky, though it probably shouldn't, as instead of women talking about themselves it's men talking about their perception of women, which is icky because then you get an ideal woman that is more womanly than an actual woman. ( Which was the video in History of Theatre and Drama! )
So the men got to decide what Feminism was - I was mostly tougne tied as I kept rambling on about Feminism and middle-upper class white women. But there was other talk, about science co-opting the language and mandates of religion, that I did fine in. Because no one else was saying a word. Only five people actually said anything out of over 35 people.
I have to buy two more books. But I do get to write a paper about Lise Mieter!
