my cognative science paper is basically the paper that livejournal wrote. which is either really sad or really funny.

but the really sad thing? I loved my topic. I handed in the paper a page and a half short - that's pretty much a fail, even if I do well on the rest. But since I have about eight mintues to write those pages... *sigh*

The bigger the grooming clique of a species is, the greater the size of the neocortex and the social groups as the whole. This mediation between living close enough together to make living in a group, especially in a large group, in balance with the stresses of living in a large group. It is hypothesized that the grooming clique does acts as a shield against living in large groups, as the grooming clique is a rough alliance of individuals whose emotional bonds are of a sufficient depth who competes for their own group inside of the greater social group for resources, such as food, and protect their members from attack from threats, a case would be from inside of the group in hierarchical disputes. Also the “presence of grooming partners acting passively to distance individuals whose physical proximity would stress the individual.” Dunbar (2003) While there is a limit towards how big the larger social group can archive, but as the cognitive processing of social skills increase the larger the social unit can grow without collapsing into chaos.
While post-agricultural human societies are today more complex than primate societies, this grooming clique effects still holds true. For example, when an social group of friends on a social networking site saw one of their friends under attack from an outsider deliberately making trouble for their group member, not only did they attack the outsider but engaged in behavior that caused the attacker to go after the individual. Other examples of grooming clique solidarity would be unions for workers and study groups for students.
