Reconcilable Differences.

Sure, it's Smallville future-fic with lots of cannon from the main DC contunity (whatever it is today, at least.) but the truely hilarious part is that half way thugh the thing Lex starts playing War of Worldcraft as a destresser, and becoemes so sucessful that his guild starts to becoe it's own faction. Tim then tells Bruce that Lex is usiing the game to create a network of supervillians and Bruce then starts playing the game obbsesively as well, and they keep tryig to slaughter the other compotion. It's a minor sub-plot, but it's hysterical.

And it was a nice change of pace from what Ive been reading mostly, which by long and short of it has become "things with Hugh Lauire in it" with sprinking of MST3K, Buffy, and Good Omens. Occasionaly, some other fandom creeps in like DC Universe, but that's it.

The Real Captain Hastings

I completely forgot to mention this story. Belive it or not, I'm fairly addicted to prodedurals and mysteries: I just don't tend to be crazy fanish over them as sci-fi or fantasy shows. Mostly, 'cause I can never seem to find good mystery fics - I'm not to hot at writting a good mystery either, because with a truely good mystery you have to give the readers the clues so they could solve the problem as well but you can't give the way the game entirely.

That being said, 'The Real Captain Hastings' is a fairly good mystery. It's an Hercule Poirot mystery, which I'm fairly fond of. Poirot is charecterized well, though I'm not as familar with Captain Hastings or Miss Lemon as for some reason whenever I picked up a copy of a Poirot book it, Hastings was almost never it it. Espescialy since my favorite was Murder on the Orient Express, and the books with Christie's self-insert. (I mean, come one, her insert was good chareter, but when you have an older female writer that has a Norweigian dectevive books though she's neer been to Norway that complains that the Powers that Be keep trying to make the charecter younger, who else could it be besides Christe?)

Okay, so the charecterization is good, there's a mystery attached, and there's Hercule Poirot. Heck, there's even gratious French! there's also a heavily slash element, and I'm a complete sucker for fluffy romance angles. What else could one want?

And I'll promise to stop recing fics in fandom that no one else reads for a bit, but still, how often you even run across Hercule Poirot fic?
