I was working on a little side project, and I wondered if there were any songs called Space Oddity. And lo, and behold there was.
( lyrics )
And I was listing to the song, and suddendly something jumped out at me. I've heard the phrase "Your circuit’s dead, there’s something wrong" before. Actually, I've read it before.
It turns out that one of the italicied phrases in Paula O'Keefe's Monster Movie is that same line. Actually, a lot of Joel's and Crow's conversation while Joel is outside of the ship is from the song, more specificaly the "Ground Control to Major Joel" and Joel's "floating round my tin can... Planet Earth is so blue..." bits.
Now to figure out the "jewler, we've failed" and the "Gee, he really is impressed" lines.
