Today I learned somthing intresting in Goverment class.
When Indiana was still considered the western frontior, there was an Indiana uprisig led by Techumsa. The Indians were defeated, and Techmsusa killed. Supposedly, Techumsa's brother put a curse on the leader of the expiditon, William Henry Harrison. Harrision was later elected to the presidency, largely because of his military exploits. He died a month after he assumed office, from amnomia.
The curse that Harrison had on him, also seemed to spread to the presidncy.
The year is the date when the President was elected.
Harrison, 1840 - Illness
Taylor, 1948 - Illness
Lincon, 1860 - Assasination
Garfield, 1880 - Assasination
McKinley, 1900 - Assasination
Harding, 1920 - Heart attack
FDR, 1940 - Illness
Kennedy, 1960 - Assasination
Regan, 1980 - Didn't die, but an attempted assaination took place
Nancy Reagan was extremly supertisous, and some people think that all the people she brought in broke the "curse," so Regan himself didn't die. It's also pointed out that Taylor was not elected in the magic inverval of twenty years.
I suppose only way we can actually tell if the curse exists is that Bush does not die in office, and he's got three more years.
And that's your history lesson for the day. = )
