I have this love-hate relationship with fanfiction.net. I read stuff there a lot, yet I have this deep abiding dislike of their policeys.

Like just now how they chucked all the WL? fics, except one *snort*, in the Drew Carey Show folder. Now, considering I don't even particualry like WL? fic, and WL? fic had been band for a least a year, I'm still fustrated.

Maybe it's just that they took down everything that would slightly offend people:
Tabliods are angry that we're completing with them by making stuff up about people and admiting the fact? *Poof!* Ann Rice is completly parinoid? *Boom!* People consider prose to be the only way to tell a story? *Zot!* And so on.

And they really didn't help thier case with my by posting this: We encourage everyone to assist in the care of this community by reporting entries when warranted. Those that have no respect for our policies cannot escape the watchful eyes of their peers.

So in other words, someone called in the raid.

But the really agrevating point is that it's still the largest, and possibley the best place to find stories.

Yeah, I don't get FF.net either. I haven't posted Ishmael Sings of the White Whale (http://www.livejournal.com/users/liz_marcs/22333.html) because their enforcement of the rules are so random.

I got "banned" from posting for about a month from FF.net because of Authors' Notes I tacked at the end of a story explaining some plot points in Whisper (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1177247/1/), a story that was posted loooong before they put up the "no author's notes" rule.

Right now, they're enforcing a "zero tolerance" policy on all stories they consider to be "under rated." You know, you post a story as R when really it's the forbidden NC-17. From what I understand, all they need is one complaint. Even though I don't think Ishmael is even close to NC-17, I don't want to chance having everything I've posted yanked from the site and finding myself permanently banned without even a warning shot fired across my bow.

So in other words, it's just more of the Grade A bullcrap that FF.N has been spewing for how long? I don't touch the site with a ten foot pole now. "WL?" is "Who's Line is it Anyway?", right? It's borderline ActorFic, which has been banned for a long time. I'm surprised that the raid didn't get called in earier

OMFGosh. Did that come from the idiots in charge? That is NONSENSE. When MiSTings where banned, leading to a full MST3K ban, several people in the MST3K fic community (myself, Dragomorph/Bodger) offered to police the MST3K section. Seems like a simple thing to keep in the fic and boot the MiSTs, right? We were told point-blank that the community couldn't be trust to look after ourselves and therefore there needed to be a full ban.

Of course, there are still MiSTings floating around even though the ban went down over two years ago. Dang, I need a drink.

Whoa! Next thing you know, they'll have the Thought Police out after everyone! *hides*

I'm getting a kick out of the fact that we could *technically* hide WL? fics in the British Comedy section. Hmm... I may do that. I've also been thinking of ratting out some other rule breaking things. Not NC-17's though, 'cause I love those.

You know, I just got an idea that would probably get me banned forever. A 1984/fanfiction.net fic. Like, a parody based on the evils they commit. Hmmm... Xing is watching!
