I was was wandering about the internet, and came across
au100, one of those 100 fic challenges that are floating around, and realized that this could solve a lot of problems.
See, I have three diffrent kinds of plots in my head. One is what I call "intrepeting cannon" which is like "takeing the plot-concept too seriously" only mine, another are what-ifs and their ilk, and the third is a mixture of the two which are my running plots.
The running plots are my favorites, since what makes them running plots is that I've been fixing them and dreaming them and so on for years in some cases. Like my 512 AU, which is basicaly "What if Gypsy realized that the MADS were plotting to kill Mike. I've been working on this for the last... three years? Ever since I entered into the MST3K fandom really. I havn't worked it out to a stopping place yet, but I'm still not giving up on it.
The more relevent plot is the dimensional log one. This one, I belive, is an out growth of writtting down all of the diffrent alternate universes in the series, all of the obvious places of outshoots, and so on and giving them all call numbers. (Which I think I have lost) Anyway, it also my way of dealing with my brain accidently running a senerario in someone else's fanfic universe. Which happens way too often for my own sanity - you just have Mike and Joel talking and suddenly I can tell it's SlWatson's or Michelle's or Nightcat's or even Technoservo's and not mine.
Or at least that's what I think since I can tell where most of my ideas come from or what it's like. Like my idea is a mash up of: Sliders, Bodger's fic where Joel travels though dimensions, Mary Jean Holmes Back to the Future fic, and possibley Stargate. Oh, and SlWatson's Red Dwarf/MST3K crossover. I think that's it.
Anyway, the idea is that Drs. E and F, and Joel have to catalouge all the universes that have them in it and figure out how they all diverge. This requires surveys and telling themselves that they aren't insane quite a bit.
Actually, quite a few ideas have people skipping universe, but that has to do with the unstable nature of the space/time around Gizmonic property and how people there skipp universe without knowing it, giving rise to Mike acidently meeting another verison of himself. (it has something to do with the Hexfeild)
Where was I? Oh, but the real reason this helps is that for the challenge I can write all those werid ideas that have popped into my head (like Pearl/Mike *cries*), but still have a semi-coherent plot.
All of this + I get to use some of my bizzare Gizmonic theroies = love. The first part is almost done, and I like it! It flows, it has plot, and I even think the charecterization is okay. It's not cannon, but I can't spell either.
