What do we know about in-universe politics in the Whoverse? Spoilers for Doctor Who, Sarah-Jane Adventures, and Torchwood to 2x06 - Reset.
For ease of labeling, New Who, SJA, and Torchwood is all "New Who."
If you have any other information, could you please tell me?
And, as I'm American, there may be details I'm not getting. Or really obvious things. I just recently learned what "Whitehall" is.
For New Who, British Politics
*The Prime Minister in Aliens of London/World War III ( Spring 2006 ) the Slitheen kill is male.
*Harriet Jones is the head of government between then and at least Christmas of 2006.
*Harriet Jones falls from power sometime between Christmas and when Saxon is elected.
*Saxon kills his entire cabinet, and later dies himself
*In the Post-Saxon era, the goverment is sponsoring alien experimentation to produce medicines, pesticides, and defoliants.
For New Who, World Politics
*There's a war going on in Iraq
For New Who, Science
*No one's put much development into manned space exploration since the 80's - they went to Mars then Jupiter in Classic Who - but they only have the US' Shuttles/Russia's Soyuz/China's Shenzhou/UK's Unknown Craft.
*Human technology is aided by alien technology
For New Who, Presumed Politics, Government, and World Affairs
*Arthur Winters started the Iraq war, but it continues after his assassination
*The PM killed in Aliens of London was probably someone like Tony Blair
*All the stuff that's happened here probably happened there too, except the names were changed.
*The UK has a lot more programs dedicated to terrorism, as in addition to the terrorism from here ( the transport bombing in London ) is in addition to the things that are passed off as terrorism ( The blowing up of 10 Downing Street, the massive damage to the surroundings of Canary Warf ) and the cover-ups of invasions that the public demands better security at water facilities ( the Battle of Canary Warf )
