"The terrorists did it." is pretty much the stock phrase of alien cover-ups since the early seventies alien invasions of London. For once, it actually was terrorism. I could have died from shock! Sure, it was alien terrorists, but still.
Jack's interrogation style was a bit... odd. Which makes sense, as he did used to torture people, but is trying to get away from his past. So now instead of getting out the knives he tries to put people though the emotional ringer. Luckily for Jack - and the person he's intergating as he's not gong to stick a knife in them - this style works well for good cop/bad cop.
Gwen is a excellent good cop, because she's not faking it. She's doing her job, but she's still on the other guy's side as much as possible. Like others have said, this is pretty much why I think Gwen was hired as someone has to look at the little picture or nothing gets done.
Ianto and Gwen had interaction! And even more implied interaction where Ianto told Gwen how Jack is in the sack. It only took an entire series for the two of them to have a scene together.
Speaking of Ianto and Jack, was there a scene missing somewhere? Jack and Tosh are arguing, and then Tosh goes out to fiddle with the system. Jack catches Ianto's eye and then he runs away deeper into his office and Ianto goes after him. It then cuts to Gwen and Beth in the greenhouse. I believe I hear the keyboards of at least 10 ficcers clicking as I speak...
And the show ends with another dead black woman on the floor of the HUB. Beth was handled way, way better than Lisa, but I still thought it was sketchy.
Some random questions are also somewhat answered. There's a lift system from the autopsy room/medical room to the vaults, so that's how they get the bodies from one place to the other. And apparently Jack does have a healing ability, as he's stabbed though the chest and he's pretty much fine.
And Jack pwns them all with older tech by using the CB radio.
The telephone scene is probably the best part of the episode.Though if the landlines where out, wouldn't that mean the internet was out? And if the internet wasn't out, then the VoIP would still work. And if the internet was out, then Tosh couldn't hack into the military databases. ( Also, VoIP cell phones would still work, but I doubt Torchwood would have those lying around. ) Nice try James Moran!
Owen seems to get along better with plants than people.
Lastly: Jack's little look-up when he's running his hands over the broken knife tip? I think he's knows what's ahead, that history says that these guys are here are that they're going to do a lot more damage.
