I've just had thoughts about why almost everyone believes the "...it was psychotropic drugs in the water supply!" for the alien invasions in the Whoverse.
They've been using the same line since the 70s. The same damm line. There's a huge chunk of the population whose never had anything different than that manufactured reality, and it's not anywhere near new, so why would they think so?
Though, it's a bit odd that with all these incidents, the terrorists haven't said any demands, unlike the IRA, and now the Islamofacists ( at least, I'm guessing that they have the same problem with idiots using Islam and oil to grab power, otherwise I'm stumped on why there would be fighting in the Middle East there too. ) and whatever RL and Whoverse organizations overlap.
I think? A bit, at least.

Date: 2007-10-22 10:31 pm (UTC)no, that's what would make it even more plausible - after every one of these incidents was announced, half a dozen groups would take credit and use it to promote their politics.
and also, *nods*
people believe the weirdest things if they've been true for long enough.
