So it turns out that there was a problem with the IU audiotorium page, so sign ups are going to be tomorrow at nine, which is good, because I can sign up and still have time to get to my 9:30 class.

I really hope by what he means by "fit on one page" my lingustics proffessor means "less than one page" because that's what I've got.

And, I just found out that my mother broke her wrist in lots of places when she tripped over a bike a work - she workes at a daycare, so it was one of those little toddler ones, I'm guessing. She's having surgery on Wedsday.

Yes, I've had this window open for a while, so it's more of an 'news as it comes in' deal, not order of importance.

My rooms a mess. The sticky tack has failed on just about everything, so it's on my floor until I get the will to post it back up.

I had another meeting with the community coucil meeting. I don't think it went well. Or maybe it was just there was lot of talk of 'what the women folk would like to do' since the women folk for the entire meeting was both entirely composed of me and the male sponser - who seems nice enough - mentioned the extreme lack of women in computing. Several times. Thanks, sponser, I didn't get that fact from that both the cleverly marketed brocurers, or the fact that most of my I101 class is male.

So, I'm ending up going to join the Women in Computing chapter after all. Not that will help solve this problem in any way, but .. it might help. Along with learning more about computers, as I know just enough to know what the rest of the group is talking about remodling the lab.

UWEC's got a shortage of women in CS, too. When we had our meetings on the majors, I didn't think it'd be so bad, there seemed to be a fair amount there, but when I had my Foundations of CS class, there's two other girls out of thirty-ish people. And my programming class has about 16 people and it's just me and this other girl. Who is, ironically enough, completely computer illiterate.

Infomatics isn't as bad as computer science, since if you look at all the undergrads taking infomatics it's pegged at 20%, but there's no way that there's 17 girls in Intro to Infomatics. Not much less, but like 12 maybe. I think CS at IU is pegged at... somewhere in the low teens. Less than in Infomatics.

It class, it doesn't really bother me. But when I think about it, or when someone brings it up, it really does bother me a lot.
