So, I've been thinking a lot about The MST3K Chronicals, and what would make them better. And by 'better' I don't mean by burning them, but by keeping the current cannon and fiddling around with the particulars.
The first thing would to do something with Ashely. But I don't know what, excatly. So I've just tried pushing herback into the background for a little bit, as there's a nine member cast and the other's are way more easier to deal with.
The second, which is only second beause doing the first makes this task easier, make Mike more like Mike. Sure, he has a bit of a temper, but he shoudn't be flipping out all over the place. And give him some sort of plot that isn't an romantic one and that has little to do with Ashely. And Neko.
Third, give Cambot a plot. I know there's one there. See, in book eight Crow, Servo, and Magic hatch a plot to run a DNA test on Ashely and Mike. But since I don't know where exactly where Technoservo was going with this I decied to have Cambot smash up the equipment because she thinks that the three are doing a DNA test on
her because her eye's are a shade of Forrester green and she's scared to know whether or not she's truely got a bit of Forrester blood in her as the evil doctor had a small hand in her creation. (Dr. F built the entire SOL from scratch, which would probably include the camera that became Cambot, in this universe.) She freaks out
again when Magic fingers her for the destruction, and hides until Tom evetually talks her out and they have a nice bit or to together, as I want to give the profiles some basis in cannon!
Speaking of Tom, giving him, Gypsy and Magic Voice major roles in a plot or two would be good too. Preferably a plot where there is no damsel in distressing of anyone.
And Joel. Get him in Mike with a few scenes together. Not for the slash - there's too much creepy Forrester/Joel subtext to let Joel into anything resembling a 'ship unless it's a Soviet Cosmonaut 'cause I can
always ship Joel/Soviet Cosomonaut. But him and Mike should have some goofy fun together.
Then it's just tone down the angst and up the comdedy quotient. Also, make the drama less 'all or nothing' and play with the dynamics of the crew more. And less romance.
Okay, sure, this was more an excersise in editing than actual fic work, but does anyone have any ideas or any opinions on the above suggestions?
