Aug. 6th, 2005 10:47 pmYesterday we drove to Louisville, a two and a half hours later than when Mom was planning on leaving. So we get to the hotel around 11 local time, and bet supper. Mom gets a coke. Neither of us gets any sleep.
At 4 AM, we get up and get ready to leave for the airport for our 6 o'clock flight. We make it though the ticket counter and security with no problems. Our flight to Philidelphia was hassel free, and we arrive ten minutes early.
We then proptly sit on the tarmac waiting to taxi to the gate for a half hour. Then we couldn't find our connecting flight to Hartford, until someone realised that they were only listing the gates for that terminal. So it was on the bus to go to the other side of the airport. Breakfast was a preztle, because we were going to be in Hartford by 11.
Well, we would have gotten to Hartford if the plane had not be delayed for over an hour. Then it was another half hour on the tarmac before we could take off. Getting to the rental car place was no problem, except for the part where I hit two people trying to get a suitcase off of the converbelt. A five foot long suitcase does not fit though a one foot hole.
So we get to my grandparts house three hours after we were supposed to. No problem. Except we were so tired we went to sleep after Mama forced a roast beef sandwhich on us.
I suppose this is the reason why I'm posting instead of sleeping.
When I woke up, Linda was here, and I caught the tail end of her vist. We also showed my grandparents part one of the 2000 + pictures we brought along with us. And my DI skit.
Then it was Tech Support while my mother did her homework, and prime rib that looked like and was the texture of processed meat.
I read some, Mom did homework, and my grandparnets watched an old western.
I did learn that the clock that's been sitting in my grandparents dinning room since forever, came from the Dewey House at Smith. One of my grandparent's neighbor's grandfather owned one of the houses that the collage took over. And I'm related to the Dewey's... somehow, since we have a picture of a Dewey in the same dinning room. Not enough to get me a connection though. = )
And it's Papa's 80th birthday today, by local time at least.
