I think I've become a collect of World of the World items. I was thinking of spending a girft certificate from last Christmas, and after ogling the DVD burners and the MST3K section, I wandered over to the War of the Worlds section and starting looking. Actually, I was looking for a boxed set of the televsion series that they had in the late 80's/early 90's but they haven't comeout with it yet.

Anyway, I managed to find War of the Worlds: Global Dispatches which is some of my favorite fanfiction of all time. See, a bunch of Writers wrote about the Martian Invasion from the perspective of noteable people of the time like Teddy Rosevelt, the Dowager Emperss of China, and Jack London. (Jack London's piece in particualar fits in nicely with the televion series.)

After putting the above book and the movie, of course, in the cart, I went searching for more stuff and found "The Musical Version of the War of the Worlds." It's actually a lot better than it sounds. While it's not a musical, it's more like songs that were inspired by the book strung together with a re-telling of the book that you need to actually have already read the book to understand. I haven't finished it yet because I just kept thinking about Hiroshima because I read the book Hiroshima right after watching the movie and they exploded an atomic bomb in that moive AND WHY ISN'T DR. FORRESTER'S EYES RUNNING OUT OF HIS SOCKETS?!

Don't read Hiroshima unless you want to feel guilty about being American/alive.

The other nifty thing I saw was somthing called "The Complete War of the Worlds" that contains the book, the transcript of the 1939 radio play, a cd of the radio play, and some articals/essays about the book and the radio play.
