Then we went to the Strassenfest prpper. After finding a parking space and walking around the Bier Garten (the Beer Garden is this huge block long cage that you have to show ID before you go in. Dubois county has a rather large problem of underage achololics.)
So we walked around a two minutes before I got sidetracked by a few people I knew and Dad got sidetraked by the protesters. Indiana is building a interstate that goes from Indiapolis to the southwest cornor of the state. And the want to build a four-line highway around Huntingburg and Jasper, and some people around here aren't very pleased about it. Stores leaving the downtown, farmers losing thier land, polution, ect. It was kinda werid to have people talking to me about it, especialy since I was listening to the guy my dad was talking to.
Then I went exploring afterwords, and got a Puapa. Not only was it not German food, (it was from the fundrasing booth for the Spainish Church), it wasn't fried either! And if you don't know what a puapa is, it's cheese or pork wraped in a corn tortia. I didn't know what it was until the girls in front of me asked.
After that, some time later, the dj fired up and started cranking out the rock and roll hits and history. So I rythemicaly flailed for an hour or so. We got to do the eletric slide with everyone in the dance area doing it except a small group of people just standing around in front of the stage. And during the complation of songs from Grease I rythemicaly flailed AND did choregraphy.
On the way home there was a breif discusion on whether to get the funnel cake or the elephant ear. The elephant ear won because they were being produced by the parent orgization of my service club. (Optimist Club begat Octogon Club). And we saw a ompa band go from rock and roll to german folk. Who knew a achordian can do rock music?
And if you have internet explorer, you can see Strassenfest for yourself by going to http://www.jasperstrassenfest.org. Who knows, you might even see me!
