For the love of all that's holy, that's entering Mary Sue turf. A spunky female comes to Gizmonic and gets tossed into a cell while she has a moment of angst. That's like... stock plot #16.
The only way I can see that being pulled off is if the female character is indeed Magic Voice and the MV in later canon is an echo of this other person. Even then, that would have to be handled very carefully, as no one is going to want to see MV become a sue. I personally saw MV being like Nicole from the Sonic comics; an AI that was created in the future and sent back to help the characters in the present, knowing full well that she'll be destroyed and never see her proper time again. However, it's never explained where MV came from, so it's very open for any fan to pick and choose their own idea.
Trying to explain MST3K season 0 is like trying to explain season one of PoG or Harold's bouncing age and the sudden changes in Possum Lodge in Red Green. Me thinks it's a lost cause. Even when a canon itself has retroactive continuity, huge plot holes open up. One you might have seen is the one that occured in Red Green during the special Hindsight is 20/20. That confirmed that the Smith and Smith skits from 1979 ARE part of Red Green canon, but Harold played a major role in getting Red on the show. The problem? Harold was born in 1972, "when Bobby Fisher won the big chess thing". Granted, Harold is smart, but it's hard to see him being able to get Red onto TV when he's seven.
Like most early seasons, we're supposed to just deal and move on. I like the "there was problems with the transmissions so everything looks and sound different!" idea, although some fans discount the whole season all together.
"Finaly, I've come to the conclusion that Joel and Mike evidenty can wear the same clothes, even though Mike's taller and broader, and have pretty iron proof. Micheal J. Nelson and Joel Hogdson can wear the same jumpsuit and fit, as Real!Mike wears Real!Joel's KTMA jumpsuit in the second season. It may not fit the best, but they can at least trade jumpsuits."
My opinion is that the very idea of Mike and Joel switching jumpsuits is a pile of crap and is a stupid plot device. Steff mentioned the jumpsuit switching to be once and I went "What the Hell?!" Nope, it doesn't have anything to do with my opinion on MST3K slash or pairings in general. Even if you extend it to that level, I don't think anyone can imagine IP&S Rick and Nance switching clothes as a symbol of their love, although jacket is a different story. It's confirmed in canon that some of Rick's unstableness is tied to that coat and thus anything involving it would also involve psychological issues. Rick's jacket != the jumpsuits, though and there's nothing kinky or hot about people sharing clothes. [/end wanky rant]
