"Between the Acts"
Aug. 31st, 2007 03:40 pmLast spring I heard that the GLBT library was re-organizing their books to a new classification system, so I'd thought I'd check it out. It's a bit odd, and I wondered where the hell the books went, but after I was directed upstairs to the history section, I hit paydirt. I finally found a book that covers gay history from the 1900's to the 1950s! It's called "Between the Acts" and it's fifteen interviews conducted with older gay men in England and Wales in the 1970s about their lives.
So, not only do I get to satisfy my own curiosity, I can refer to actual first-person accounts while entering into debates that are swirling about in fandom, like the fate of Capitan Jack Harkness.
