Jill fucking hated that telephone. Her job was to re-route all the calls Torchwood One received to the proper department or person, and to get rid of the crank callers.

Not that there were many pranksters calling Torchwood, but some idiots just liked pushing the buttons.

Thousands of calls flashed though her board each day, but when it came to a starving man on the other side of the world, there was just... him trapped on an outpost and her trapped listening to his ramblings on the static-filled line. And Jill fucking hated that telephone.
