The Welsh word for "nonsense" is lol, and pronounced exactly how it looks for English speakers.

Maybe that's why lolcats appear to have such bad spelling and grammar in English; they're native Welsh speakers! :D

So says the data in the Welsh Dialect Survey book. There is a variant of dol/doll in an arch stretching from Newport to Swansea - and it's probably dying out as generational transmission of Welsh in Glamgoan is awful, and most of the informants in the survey was born before 1920s.
