i want to join your happy band and play all day in the promised land
Comment here and I'll give you a band (you can pick a music genre for me to choose from, or not). Then you list your ten favorite songs by that band in your LJ.
I may cheat and look in your interests, if I am not completely familiar with your tastes in music. I mean, it's no fair to give you Charles Dornberger and his Orchestra if your favorite band is Creed, now is it? I'm nice that way...
I got Cole Porter from

Easy to Love - One of my favorite songs of all time, hands down. It's a song about unrequited love, and the singer explains why they should give it a go.
Anything Goes - Also known as "the reason why I fell for John Barrowman."
Let's Misbehave
Experiment - A song that espouses curiosity, which is strange as most songs are about the ideas of forgetting.
Blow, Gabriel, Blow - It's got Old Time Relgion, and a really catchy tune.
Let's Do It, Let's Fall In Love - Silly animal imagery for the win!
Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye
I Happen to Like New York - I don't. Actually. But this song almost makes me want to!
What is this Thing Called Love?
Miss Otis Regrets - Tells a tiny story about a fast man and a women he wronged.

Other than De-Lovely, of course. But I don't think movies about song composers count. = )

The Many Tunes of Gamera--I loved all the different songs they sung during the Gamera movies. I forgot to ask Mike this when I saw him at Dragon*Con, but I'm pretty sure these songs are a homage to the many different versions of the theme song of Robert Altman's "Long Goodbye" film. Joel even riffs "This is the longest goodbye ever" when Gamera is leaving and the kids are waving to him.
Master Ninja Themesong--Catchiest MST3K song ever.
Let's Have a Patrick Swayze Christmas--Very funny, explores Mike's fascination with "Roadhouse"
Sandy Frank Song--funny song that reportedly helped get Sandy Frank so mad he wouldn't let them use his films anymore.
The United Servo Academy Men's Chorus Hymn--Probably the best sounding MST3K song, Kevin's voice was recorded many times to get the chorus effect.
Joey the Lemur--Really lame song, but always cracks me up.
Oh, Kim Cattrall--Pretty funny and I'm fan of her.
Toobular Boobular Joy--Silly rhyming song about boobs that doesn't get too raunchy
Hired!--funny song about a funny short
Burning Rubber Tires--Evokes 50's and 60's odes to fast cars
I couldn't remember the exact title for most of the songs, so I used http://mst3k.wayfellows.com/ to help get them right.
Queen (Flash Gordon, Highlander) and Tangerine Dream (Legend, Risky Business) did do soundtracks as a band but usually its one member like Mark Knolfer or the RZA who specializes in them.
