The Giant Bunny ate my Butter Buger!

Today I got to drive to Evansvill. I got to drive to Evansvill to go get a shelf and three shelf holders for my Moms Disney mug collection. Since we were at Lowes we got a furnace filter two. The only reason why we spent more than a ten minutes in Evansvill was we stoped in Culvers for lunch.

SO WE DROVE AN HOUR AND A HALF TO GET THINGS WE COULD HAVE DRIVEN TEN MINUTES DOWN THE STREET TO GET!

*Deep Breath*

On a more lightherted note, this morning I watched a very strange show. Other than the marathon of marvel crossovers, with Spider Man, Daredevil, and the Fantastic Four. It was this show called Portal where this guy, Dave, was (presumably) in a satellite in space with this talking computer, VAL. I watched two epidoes. One was Dave trying to convice people that Halloween was a stupid thing. So he had little short stories made with various role playing games. One was a ghost story, another a send up of the blair witch, and the third a touching story about a zombie. Did I mention the only human in all of this was Dave? The next episode was a one of an arc, but they had a previous so I wasn't too lost. There was only two plots in this. The main plot of the epidoe was a guy who tried to stop Christmass some time ago goes to this psychologist about his hero phobia. The sub-plot was Dave trying to get one of his cyberfriends who sorta looked like a giant bunny, to talk. So he found a kid and intoduced eatch other and lo, the bunny creature started to talk.

I didn't get it much either. But it seemed intersting.

OMFGosh I need to see this Portal show now. Not just because it sounds a little like Prisoners of Gravity... urmm... okay, maybe it's because it sounds a ton like PoG (however, Nance would probably pwn VAL 'cause that's the laws of the universe for you). I need more padding for Signal Loss. I did a quick search on Google and it turns out there's characters on Portal named Rick (a "spiritual advisor") and Nancy (a monster or something). Proof enough for me.

Seriously, I will tape trade for an episode or two. I don't get G4Tech TV here in Thunder Bay. In exchange can get you Canadian comedy (Red Green, Air Farce, 22 Minutes, Monday Report, etc) on the first run. I think the next season on CBC starts in October.

Please! Don't make me beg more than I already am!

...

I'LL GIVE YOU MONEY! ... no wait, I can't. *sulks*

You've got yourself a deal.

WOO HOO! So, which shows do you want in exchange?

'Hacker: Your SOUL!

Wait a minute. But I already sold mine to Stan...

Ya know, you have to look at theose contracts really carefuly. After all, since the Devil invented spelling, I would think at the very least he gets his name spelt right. Stan must make a killing in the resold soul department though.

Er. How about one of This hour has 22 minutes and one of Air Farce? Or whatever you have because I haven't seen any Canadian shows except Red Green and The Industry.

But did you want them two hour or four hour or six hour? If I can remember how to record over two hours that is.

[identity profile] commanderteddog.livejournal.com 2004-09-14 09:44 am (UTC)(link)
I dunno about the soul market. You usually have a high price when you buy and you may not make it all back by the time you sell.

*thinks* What styles of comedy are you a fan of? I might be able to tailor the tape to your taste. For example, Royal Canadian Air Farce is a silly skit comedy. This Hour Has 22 Minutes and Monday Report are faux news broadcasts. If you want something darker, there's The Newsroom. If you want really hard stuff, there's also programs like The Trailer Park Boys or... well, anything with Ed the Sock that can't air uncut in the United States. There's even infomation/comedies hybrids like Street Cents, a teen consumer show which sometimes includes skits. Street Cents used to also have a continuity, but that dumped about 6 or so years back, which is a shame because it was pretty cute.

2 hours (SP speed) is fine. It's also better for the recording than 4 or 6 hours.

I guess I'm still going with This Hour Has 22 Minutes and Royal Canadian Air Farce.

Unless, of course, Prisioners of Gravity airs in Thunder Bay, which I don't think it does just because I think you mentioned that it doesn't. Sometime. Maybe.

[identity profile] commanderteddog.livejournal.com 2004-09-14 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't get PoG reruns on cable in Thunder Bay. HOWEVER, I've been recording reruns back in Hamilton since 2000 *points to a box of tapes* I've got 40 odd episodes from the Space reruns (in SLP), the Booktelevision reruns (in SP), the major difference being that the BookTV eps were edited for time. It doesn't matter too much, except in the odd episode where semi-important scenes are cut (eg, in the episode New Worlds, Rick and Nance have some bad blood between them that climaxs with a ranting/shouting match at the end, but the scene that explains why characters are acting this way was cut for time).

If you want some PoG, you'll have to wait until early Oct, because then I'll have access to two VCRs. This Hour Has 22 Minutes and Royal Canadian Air Farce are fairly easy to record, since they air in an hour-long block on Fridays. I'll probably wait until the new season to tape them, though.

Waiting a month is fine if I can finaly see the show you've been talking about.

Heh, if you like The Red Green Show and enjoy discussions on science fiction and underground media, you should find Prisoners of Gravity slightly agreeable. You know the character Bill Smith, the Adventures with Bill guy on Red Green? He's played by Rick Green, who was also the co-creator/writer for the series. The same Rick Green was the head writer, co-creator and host of PoG, so you'll find that the same sense of humour appears in both series. Or at least you'll notice that Commander Rick looks vaguely like Bill Smith... or that the two of them sound like Ed Gruberman, but this is a moot point.

The two shows were produced roughly at the same time (Red Green's first season started in the middle of PoG's second) and they share some similarities, to the point where a handful of fans have speculated that the both series might take place in the same relative universe. Of course, this is nothing but a fan created pipe dream, but it gave me something to play around with in IP&S.

Sooooo... since I have an atomic pile of episodes, do you have any topics that interest you? Any favorite popular sf&f authors from the early 1990s? I don't want to send copies of my favorite episodes only to have you bored by the subject material.

Its Ty

I was going to tell you you had to check this show it! It reminded me of a low budget MST3K. Or could that be redundent? Anyways, I kinda like it.

TERIERMON!

[identity profile] msp-hacker.livejournal.com 2004-09-14 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
And weridly enough, that's what your nickname in my address book is.

Portal is very much like MST3K, with the whole "man trapped in space with AI's for his only company" vibe.

TERRIERMON! Its spelt with 2 arrrs

and don't you forget it! I also have a lil' naruto icon, and I'm trying to get a third, I just don't know what to pcik from. I could go with something non=anime, but that would be a very small group....

Another thing to check out! Keiichi.net! Unedited Japanese anime music! its really great, but they seem to do maintinence around 2 in the morning. Oh, they do have some american anime music too, and J-pop, and its all great! Highly addicting.
